The NMMS Scholarship, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, is designed to curb the dropout rate at the Class 8 level.

The scholarship provides ₹12,000 per annum to selected candidates, covering their high school education from Class 9 to Class 12. The total scholarship value is ₹48,000 over four years. The primary NMMS eligibility criteria require the parental annual income to be within ₹3,50,000. Applicants must be regular Class 8 students in Government, Government-aided, or local body schools.

Exam Structure: MAT and SAT Pattern

Selection for the scholarship is based on a two-part written examination. The test comprises the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), with each paper carrying 90 marks. To qualify for the NMMS, candidates must score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in both tests (32% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

Assam NMMS 2025 Exam Date

The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam, has confirmed the NMMS Examination 2025 date as November 15, 2025. The exam question papers will be available in multiple languages, including Assamese, English, Hindi, Bengali, and Bodo. A total of 2,411 seats are provisionally reserved for the state of Assam under this scheme.
